The Trust would retain a conservation easement interest.

Lopez Island
Buffum/Kjargaard Farm Conservation Easement
This property has a long history of agricultural use. The property was homesteaded by Joseph Burt in 1871. Otto Kjargaard owned and ran the farm from 1944 to 2006. It has now passed to the Buffum brothers, another Island farming family. The Buffum’s graze cattle on the land may plant cereal crops in the future. The open fields of the property are highly visible from both Fisherman Bay and Dill Roads and serve as a visual gateway to Center Valley, one of the prime farming areas of Lopez Island.
