What is a Fee-Simple Acquisition?
A Fee-Simple Acquisition is when the Land Bank buys a property outright. Sometimes these properties are referred to as Preserves.
Properties are purchased to promote access to the shoreline, protect a key natural area or provide a place for woodland walks. Sometimes, in order to meet these goals, the Land Bank must purchase more property than it needs and portions may be resold as part of the Land Bank Conservation Buyer Program. Before any property is resold, public meetings are held to discuss the options and issues related to future uses of the property.
