FAQ’s
How does the Conservation Buyer Program work?
• The Land Bank purchases land in a critical conservation area.

• When the conservation values of the land can be protected with private ownership, the Land Bank Commission may choose to recommend a sale.

• Site specific and legally binding conservation easements are custom designed to protect the lands important features.

• The property is advertised through the Land Bank’s website, through the local real estate community and printed materials.

• The property is resold to a conservation buyer, an individual dedicated to protecting the conservation values of the land and supportive of the legally-binding protective covenants that run with the property in perpetuity.

• The conservation easement protects the important natural and open space features of the property while allowing limited development.

How does the Land Bank determine sales price?
Conservation Buyer properties are sold at market value. The proceeds from the sale are reinvested in other conservation projects.

Will the Land Bank accept property trades?
Yes. However, the received property must meet the Land Bank conservation criteria.
